Hi! I'm Karlyn.
Welcome to my world! I'm glad to share it with you.
My love of stories, simplicity and light has driven me to photography; my love of people has made it a career. I am a wife, mother, caffeine addict and reluctant exerciser; scattered artist, dormant writer, closet comfort food junkie. And my life's work is to tell your story.
I have been a photographer in the Seattle and Whatcom County areas since 2004, growing my passion for creating real life images. "Anda" means "spirit" in Swedish, which is exactly what excites me so much about kids and families and new life: the depth of love, the comfort of togetherness, the untamed wild joy of eager little hearts. My sessions are not stiff and posed. We play, we giggle, we relax, and you are invited to fall easily into your authentic self as if the camera weren't there.
My first wedding was for some friends right out of photography school (on film - gasp!), and since then I've captured all flavors of this huge milestone in your life; backyard weddings, private forest elopements, huge glamorous celebrations, destination weddings. What drives my love for weddings is the depth, the emotions, the eager raw joy of finally joining together as one. My desire for you at your wedding is that you're able to experience an authentic, comfortable wedding day documented candidly - hopefully with torrents of unabashed laughter. I want to tell YOUR story. My photojournalistic style is intimate, reflective and joyful. I encourage each of my couples to join me for an engagement session so we can hang out, get to know each other and discover that particular spark you have together. I want to get to know who you are and then showcase that spirit to the waiting world. I particularly love small, intimate backyard weddings and private elopements; the intensity of the moments are just so honest and uncluttered that they never fail to move me.
My style in all my sessions is called "lifestyle" because I want to meet you just exactly where you're at in life and hit pause for a second. Moments that are beautifully suspended in time cannot be forgotten; they forever stand as witness to your story. Come as you are and revel in it because you are truly incredible. From backyard weddings to squishy newborns to crazy family photo days - I love every story, and I would love to share yours.
So what about my own story? I live in the Bellingham area with my smoking hot husband (who also photographs with me when I'm lucky!), two feral homeschooled minons and a pair of ridiculously patient house rabbits. Together we love long walks, camping, bonfires, adventuring, family popcorn movie nights and creating random projects. As I'm able to carve out time (which is rare, as any mom will tell you), I love to read, write and be outside... preferably with chocolate. Always chocolate.
I'll see you soon!
